In 2017, Strategic Spaces were engaged to design and specify furniture for areas within Eastland Shopping Centre including, break out lounge spaces throughout the site and a dining arrangement within The Arcade.
Strategic Spaces envisioned the break out lounges within the centre to be an inviting oasis to rest, where uses would feel comfortable and relaxed amongst the shopping centre environ. It was also important that the design and specified furniture within these spaces aligned with the centre’s sophisticated and elegant architecture.
Furniture for the break out lounges was selected from companies including Arper, Something Beginning With and Bolon. We worked closely with distributors to incorporate customisation and tailoring for site specific requirements, including colour palettes, material finishes and ergonomic adjustments.
Our team designed custom planters that married with the specified furniture. These planters were made by PGR Furniture and featured slatted wenge timber panelling, fixed around an internal support structure with large planter troughs nested within. For planting, we arranged an array of succulent plants to complement the surrounding interior architecture.
Within the Arcade precinct, our team designed a dining arrangement including a rectilinear limestone table with a honed finish, also built by PGR Furniture. The Arcade has a distinct aesthetic that incorporates glazed box shopfronts with thin black framing and limestone and black marble tiling. The dining table bridged across the limestone tiling and was surrounded with chairs distributed by BCI Furniture.
