Strategic Spaces were engaged to work alongside Adherettes to design a car park wayfinding strategy and arrival experience for The Star Sydney.
Overlooking Darling Harbour, The Star Sydney is the second largest casino in Australia, which includes two gaming floors, two hotels, fifteen bars and restaurants and privately-owned apartments.
Our team considers the car park to be the “forgotten front door” of a site and at The Star Sydney, we discovered a first impression not fitting with this entertainment and leisure destination.
We designed a wayfinding strategy that amplified street presence and provided the user with clear vehicular directions to key destinations and access points. Our team worked with technology consultants, TechMedia to introduce large digital media screens fit for promoting advertising and marketing to arriving patrons.
In the car park, we stripped the environment back to the architecture and overlayed a bold and clean wayfinding system that focused on user convenience. Each level was allocated with a colour identity to facilitate clear identification, memorable parking zones and better-articulated foyers. The most prevalent user group of the casino were of Chinese descent so the colour identities considered ‘Feng Shui’ and referenced positive values and colours associated with Chinese culture.
