Strategic Spaces were engaged to design a wayfinding strategy and system for Top Ryde City in NSW.
Top Ryde City has over 78,000m² of floor space, comprising 276 stores over six levels, serviced by 6,150 car spaces across 10 levels. Our client had previously experienced navigational challenges, due to the unorthodox floor plate, a large number of car park floors and the requirement to circulate downward to the Basement 2 floor in order to depart.
In the car park, we allocated a colour identity for each level and designed a convenience-based wayfinding strategy across the full user journey – from road approach and car park entry, directions toward “Best for” parking zones, identifying nearby major tenants on car park foyers and then directions from the foyer to each major tenancy.
It was vital for the wayfinding system to facilitate self-sufficient navigation to enhance the customer experience, as well as to streamline the departing customer journey, from relocating their vehicle and navigating to the exit with ease.
Our concept took inspiration from the centre brand and used the petal logo as a device, which offered a common thread of visual communication across the façade, car park and retail wayfinding system.
