Strategic Spaces were engaged to design a wayfinding masterplan for Harbord Diggers in Freshwater, NSW.
Harbord Diggers provides a broad community offer and mixed use of entertainment, living, dining and wellbeing in one coastal location, with picturesque views overlooking Curl Curl beach in NSW.
Our team undertook a complex journey and mapping analysis phase to cater for the various user groups for this diverse destination. The breadth of spaces and services (including club venue, gymnasium, senior living apartments, childcare, retail and dining offerings and carpark) required clarification through a clean and elegant wayfinding system, including sophisticated bronze typography and a custom pictogram suite, which was influenced by the Harbord Diggers brand and ribbon logo.
To achieve an integrated result, the wayfinding solution was perceived as an extension of the architectural fabric. The strategy was inspired by the environment, local surfing history and the formation of the original Harbord Diggers, which was founded by World War 1 Diggers.
